Woah, all I need is another 932 subscribers and I can start getting paid! I rarely look at my channel, but my video about gauges dying in my brother’s ‘04 grand prix has been viewed almost 6,000 times! Then I noticed I have 68 subscribers!! Then I saw that my video about unsticking a jammed electronic parking brake from our Passat has been viewed almost 62,000 times!!! WHAT? I’m a youtube star!

Seriously, getting found and/or paid by Youtube is just crap. You NEED 1,000 subscribers just to apply, no matter how many times your stuff was viewed. Not that I was ever expecting to make some kind of fortune on Youtube, but seeing how popular my few videos were surprised me for sure! These are my most popular videos:

I used to get paid by Youtube then they revised it last year and I got cut off. Womp womp.

Ridiculous that it’s cut off by number of subscribers. If people are watching who cares if they are subscribed or not? My kids watch videos from the Youtube app on my TV, and they can’t subscribe from there, but they still watch a ton of ads and they don’t mind at all...  I really don’t get the subscriber limit bullshit.

They don’t want to hand out money if you’re not generating a constant stream of new content that people are watching. It’s more to their benefit if you’re making one video per week for a couple years that generate lifetime 20,000 views on average than to only have two or three that hit 100k.

But they take almost any excuse not to pay out. If you watch videos regularly from channels like AvE or Life of Boris where they don't really care and  repeatedly joke about their vids getting demonetized...

They’ll demonetize for most anything, not like the bot will do it already even if nothing is wrong.

The 1000 sub gating was supposed  to stop bot channels, but when did that ever stop mass subbing?
